Sounds confusing? It isn’t.
Here is the first one:
There are inspiring talks all day long with super interesting conversations at inspiring places (I’m sitting on the conference roof in the grass with view all over the Alpbach valley while typing this.). It really broadens the horizon beyond the own bubble in terms of knowledge and points of view. In summary to describe it one could use words such as: structured, informative, open for everyone and happens somewhere between 9 am and 8 pm.
Then there is the second one:
It starts around 8 pm with the evening reception, good food, drinks and music. There is basically no structure or program. You just go there and basically get more relaxed by every glass of wine or beer, mix and mingle. This world however is mostly invite only and not open to the public. Without the right contacts you are out. It lasts till the early morning hours, which is where a lot of business happens. In summary to describe it one could use words such as: exclusive, unstructured, extroverted.
There are people who go all in and are present at “both days”, but most people tend to focus on either or (also more sane). And yes that’s an over generalization and simplification for sure with quite some exceptions – still something I experienced at this years EFA 2022. So don’t take that too strict but food for thought. Having said that, which one would you go for?
